Alkakarb - Products - Chemicals - Sodium bicarbonate

AlkakarbTM is an animal feed grade Sodium Bicarbonate intended for use in preparing nutrition mixes for poultry, livestock & aqua produce. AlkakarbTM usage in feed directly benefits producer profitability through increased layer (poultry) egg output, faster broiler (poultry) growth, improved milk output in cattle, faster growth in livestock & aqua produce. The improved productivity does not come at the expense of animal health; while bicarbonate acts as a buffer to avoid acidosis, it also provides a chloride & sulphur free sodium diet. The chemical is manufactured at our automated and quality controlled Mithapur facility.

Viewing a thread - Feeding Baking Soda

My uncle got a really good deal on a few pallet loads of cattle feed (mostly salt ) from the closeout stock of a local rural store. Included were a half-dozen 25kg bags of "Arm & Hammer Feed Grade Baking Soda". It had feeding directions for beef & dairy cattle, swine, and I think poultry maybe horses too. What is the use of the stuff? Feeding with lots of grain? We don't finish cattle.

Cattle are sorta like people, they like soda when their stomach isn't quite right. Supposedly if they are flirting with acidosis it appeals to them, otherwise they aren't that interested in it. We often feed it free choice, they don't usually eat much of it. For racehorses you can mix it with icing sugar for a prerace "milkshake", the sugar for energy, the soda to conteract lactic acid buildup. Wouldn't have believed it, but the guy who told me was penalized by the racing association for using it, so I guess he'd know.
